The collective, who are responsible for the 𝑨𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝑨𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒅 exhibition, an exhibition that explores the solidarity between African Americans and black South Africans over the last 150 years with a focus on the apartheid period, visited the Museum with Ohlange High School over the weekend.

Ohlange High School, which is based in Inanda, Durban, is steeped in South African history, as it was founded by John Dube in 1901 and was the historic school where Nelson Mandela cast his first ever vote during South Africa's 1994 elections.

 

As part of their visit, the group hosted an inspiring activity session with Grade 11 and 12 History learners from Ohlange High School. These activities were based on the three major themes of the exhibition, 1. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝑆ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐼𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑐𝑟𝑜𝑠𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑂𝑐𝑒𝑎𝑛, 2. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬: 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑠-𝐴𝑡𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑆𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑔𝑔𝑙𝑒 and 3. 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐦: 𝑃𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑠, 𝑆𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡 & 𝐶𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒
