
The Robben Island Spring School Camp History Competition makes its long-awaited return to the KwaZulu-Natal Museum! The competition's selection process, which began in June via circular has come to its penultimate phase, with learners from participating districts, UThukela, Harry Gwala and UMgungundlovu tasked with giving oral presentations of their essay submissions, answering the question, "๐๐จ ๐ฐ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐ฑ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ก๐๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ฏ๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ ๐จ๐๐ฅ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐
๐ซ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐?"
Mr Dumsani Jali (Chief In-House Education Officer), who is heading up the project visited Kostad College yesterday, along with the Museum's outreach team and independent adjudicator, Mr Njabulo Mpungose (Msunduzi Ncome Museum) for the first leg of the program. Grade 11 learner, Lwandolwethu Mcunukelwa, took first position, ousting fellow school mates, Luhle Mnguni (2nd) and Gianna Mgidi (3rd).
The second leg will see the team visit UThukela District on Friday, 29 August, with the final leg set to take place at the KZN Museum for the UMgungundlovu District selection phase. The top performing learners selected from the respective districts will go on to represent, team KwaZulu-Natal at the Robben Island Spring Camp, in Cape Town, scheduled for later this year.
