Congratulations to Amanda Pietersen from Raisethorpe Secondary School for winning the UMgunngundlovu leg of the Robben Island Spring School Camp selection process and claiming the final spot on team KwaZulu-Natal.

The final leg of the selection process saw a total of 5 schools from the UMgungudlovu District represented, with 13 learners competing for a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent team KZN at the Robben Island Spring School Camp in Cape Town. The quality of the field was on full display from the onset, as learner after learner produced engaging and well thought presentations, responding to the question, "𝐓𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟗𝟓𝟔?"

The fierce competition resulted in a close encounter for 1st and 2nd place, as well as a tie for 3rd position. At the end of day, 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐧 claimed first position, edging out 𝐀𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐰𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞 (𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥), who came in second place by a one point margin, with the spoils being shared between 𝐀𝐳𝐫𝐚𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐚 (𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥) and 𝐀𝐤𝐮𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐁𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐮 (𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥) for third position.
