The Exhibitions department regularly measures temperatures, light and relative humidity in the galleries to provide a representation of the environmental conditions. Pietermaritzburg has a warm temperature climate and average temperatures for the safety of artefacts and for the comfort of staff and visitors should range from 18'c-24'c, with a relative humidity of 45%-65%.

The KwaZulu-Natal Museum follows strict Covid19 regulations, among other things, no mask no entry. We’ve even gone to the extent of instilling this notion with our mannequins on display. The same rule applies to all, they don’t get a free pass.

Come visit us at the KwaZulu-Natal Museum, there’s always something new to see. We are open from Monday to Friday from 9h00-15h30.

R 15 for adults and R 5 for children. Pensioners and toddlers are free
