Happy Human Rights Day 

Today we celebrate the cornerstone of democracy in South Africa, the rights of all people in our country and the democratic values of human dignity, equality and freedom.

On this day we also reflect on the past and remember the events that took place in Sharpeville, 21 March 1960. 69 people lost their lives on the day and 180 were wounded, when police opened fire on a peaceful crowd that had gathered in protest against the Pass laws.
