The KZN Museum's Education Outreach team has developed two new LFSE Teaching Aids which include the DNA molecule, complimenting the RNA taught in the Grade 12 syllabus and the Rhizopus, commonly known as "bread mould", covered in the Grade 11 syllabus.
The teaching aids along with Mitosis, Virus and Bacteria models were delivered for Term 1 to our Enviro Reach Schools around Pietermaritzburg. The teaching aids are developed with the aim to assist learners with conceptualisation and improve their memory retention. The initiative has proven popular with schools in the program and has seen school participation increase from 10 to 18 schools.
Pictured are grade 12 learners from Marion High School, working with the DNA models during a Life Science lesson.
