Visiting Researcher: Dr Lourenço Pinto
The Human Sciences Department, KwaZulu-Natal Museum, welcomes visiting researcher Dr Lourenço Pinto. Dr Pinto is a Lecturer in the Heritage Department at Sol Plaatje University, Kimberley, South Africa. His research interests include rock art studies, gender, postcolonial theory and critical heritage. Dr Pinto is working with Dr Ghilraen Laue on a research paper on the rock art of southern Africa.
Sol Plaatje University (SPU) opened in 2014, the first of two new universities to be established in post-apartheid South Africa. It is also the first university in the Northern Cape Province. The Department of Heritage Studies is SPU's first major research-orientated department that has provided both excellent teaching and research from the start of the university. The department offers Archaeology and Heritage Studies programmes from Higher Certificate level to a Masters postgraduate programme.
