A collective of representatives from the KwaZulu-Natal Museum's two research departments attended the 88th edition of the South African Museums Association National Conference. The conference, which took place from the 3rd to the 5th of September at the SA Armour Museum in Bloemfontein (Mangaung), focused on the theme, "𝑫𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒖𝒎𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏".
The KZN Museum delegates engaged in discussions on how museums can adapt to the digital age, addressing the challenges of relevance and inclusivity in a post-democracy era. The conference offered opportunities for museum professionals to explore innovative strategies for leveraging digital technologies, ensuring that museums continue to play a vital role in education, research, and cultural curation.
Well done to Mr Mudzunga Munzhedzi and Miss Sanelisiwe Zondi on winning the best presentation and best novice presentation awards respectively.
