KwaZulu-Natal Museum is running WOMEN’S MONTH ART COMPETITION; i.e. August 2020. The competition calls upon female artists to develop powerful creations that support the National Women’s Day theme: “Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights for an Equal Future”. Below are the official Terms and Conditions of the competition. Please take a moment to review them.
- ELIGIBILITY:
- The competition is open to Artists Women between the ages of 18 and older.
- Immediate families of KwaZulu-Natal Museum Staff ARE NOT eligible to participate or enter the competition.
- The entrant affirms that the submission (and any part thereof) is their own work and they own the copyright to their artwork.
- PARTICIPATION:
- Entrants must provide the following with their entry;
- Their Full Surname & Name,
- Contact Number,
- Description (max 100 words stating how the artwork relates to the theme)
- A high resolution image of the artwork (the artwork will be judged on this photo by Facebook viewers)
- The competition runs from the 9th – 28th of August 2020.
- Winners will be announced on or before Friday the 31th of August 2020.
- No late entries will be accepted.

- The artwork will be uploaded to KwaZulu-Natal Museum Facebook Page i.e. https://www.facebook.com/nmsa.org.za;
- Artists may enter the competition just once.
- No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, delayed or damaged in transmission.
- MEDIUMS ACCEPTED:
- Participants must create women equality statements through artworks in the form of
- Painting and
- Drawing
- PRIZES:
- Artwork with the most Facebook 'likes', wins the competition.
- In the event of a tie; KwaZulu-Natal Museum will determine a single winner.
- The Museum's decision is final.
- The main prize for the competition is a Tablet.
- The prize is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Winners will be announced on or before Friday the 31th of August 2020.
- Winners will have to collect their prizes from KwaZulu-Natal Museum.
- The competition winner will have 5 working days to claim acceptance of his/her prize.
- Upon failure to do so, KwaZulu-Natal Museum reserves the right to identify a new winner in accordance with the terms stipulated herein.
- The winners will be notified telephonically on the mobile number that they entered this competition with.
- The decision of KwaZulu-Natal Museum is final and the Museum shall not enter into any correspondence about the result.
- Entries that do not comply with these terms and conditions will be disqualified.
- Any breach of the terms and conditions may, at the KwaZulu-Natal Museum’s absolute discretion, result in forfeiture of any prize.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum shall not be liable for any disruption to the competition, whether due to technical problems or otherwise, which is beyond reasonable control.
- In the event of any disruption to the competition the KwaZulu-Natal Museum shall use its reasonable endeavours to remedy any disruption and resume the competition on a fair and equitable basis to the entrants.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum reserves the right to disqualify entrant/s if they do not respond to a telephone call to them within 24 hours of notification thereof.
- In the event of KwaZulu-Natal Museum not being able to contact or reach out the winners; the Museum reserves the right to identify new winners.
- The prize winners will be notified by telephone and winners’ names will be published on museum website and social media pages.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum will not be responsible for any damaged prize items after the handing over of prizes.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum reserves the right to alter or cancel the competition at its discretion, without recourse.
- Winning artwork to be featured in a limited range of Museum Masks.
- OWNERSHIP AND PUBLICITY
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum does not claim ownership of your submission to the competition; but by submitting an entry, you are granting the KwaZulu-Natal Museum non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, unconditional rights: to publish your name or alias in connection with this competition and your contributions.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum reserves the right to publish the name and/or photograph(s) of the winner.
- Therefore, entrants understand and agree that their submission may be posted and publicly viewable.
- By providing a submission, entrants grant the KwaZulu-Natal Museum the right, except where prohibited by law, to use your name for competition purposes in promoting or publicising the competition, including the right to name the winner of the prize in public.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum, however, does not have any obligation to use the winning entries for any purpose.
- The winner hereby agrees to allow the KwaZulu-Natal Museum to be identified, photograph/s taken and published in printed media, or appear on the museum website or social media pages and various online channels when accepting their prize.
- Details of the winner may also be announced on the museum website and any other media properties that it chooses.
- By entering the competition, KwaZulu-Natal Museum reserves the right to communicate with you at any given time during and after the competition.

- This competition is in no way organized, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Facebook. You (the entrant) understand that you are providing your information to KwaZulu-Natal Museum and not to Facebook.
- The information you provide will be used for e-mails /sms communications for future competitions.
- Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the competition can be directed to the KwaZulu-Natal Museum and not to Facebook.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum reserves the right to change any of these terms and conditions at any time, without any notice being given to those participating.
- PRIVACY POLICY
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum treats all information collected as confidential.
- Information is collected by specifically requesting it from you, this occurs when you enter the competition.
- KwaZulu-Natal Museum will treat your information in total confidence and will only share your information with our affiliates, investors, alliance partners and agents and will not sell, share or rent this information to any other third-parties.
