I am the Chief Curator of Arthropoda. I am responsible for overseeing the technical assistant in the entomology collection, making sure the entomology collection is properly curated and databased and undertaking relevant research. I also assist with the other arthropod collections where needed. My area of research expertise is forensic entomology specifically forensically important flies. I have a research collaboration with Prof. Martin Villet at Rhodes University working on various aspects of forensic entomology and I am collaborating on a carcass decomposition study with Haemish Melville from UNISA. Previous collaborations include work done with colleagues in Australia, Egypt and Poland on aspects of forensic entomology and maggot debridement therapy.
