In August 2006 the technical and exhibitions departments combined to form Exhibition and Technical Services, run by Assistant Director Charmaine Naidoo.
Exhibition Department:
Mission: To celebrate our natural and cultural heritage by creating exhibitions that are 'edu-taining', encouraging public interaction and participation in dynamic lifelong learning experience.
Key Performance Areas
- Design and produce displays that are interactive, involving public participation and dynamic learning
- Produce exhibits reflective of our nation's cultural diversity
- Upgrade old exhibits and make them user-friendly
- Create temporary and travelling displays that keep the public informed
- Incorporate the use of multimedia technology in exhibits
- Introduce ?Living Heritage' by hosting workshops and skills development programmes
- Establish partnerships with the public and private sector through shared initiatives
- Raise funds by offering our expertise to other organizations, institutions

- Maintain Museum building.
- Maintain museum vehicles.
- Oversee projects running in the museum.
- Give technical support to all departments.
- Control all consumables used in the day to day running of the museum.
- Take stock of all equipment belonging to the museum.
- Negotiate with the Department of Public Works on outstanding/ future work.
